about jordy + pinkolive

www.pinkolive.ca www.pinkolive.ca

Based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Jordy is the one behind Pink Olive handbags and accessories. Jordy is a girl of many talents, sewing and web design just happen to be two of them!

In 2003 Jordy's mom gave a present that was more delightful than the snowman notepad that had previously held position as "best gift ever." It was her sewing machine, a Kenmore UltraStitch12 (pictured below), the one upon which all Pink Olive handbags and accessories are born.  It was love at first sight; Jordy was hooked immediately. In 2004 she took an interest in fashioning handbags. Pink Olive began a year later as the handle for Jordy's creations, which she crafted mainly for friends and family. In the past couple of years Jordy and Pink Olive have attended a smattering of small craft shows and entrepreneurial events.  Jordy hopes to see you at an event soon

how to make a 'jordy bag'www.pinkolive.ca

The year was 2004.  It was a cold January, one perfect for picture-taking and internet-posting. Jordy shared with the world her instructions on how to make a small, square-bottomed handbag on the popular craft message board, craftster. The thread has since grown to over 290,000 views (and is still growing!) chock-full of praise, questions, admiration, and thanks inspiring many craftsters to create their own versions of the 'Jordy bag'.

In March of 2005 the Jordy bag was featured in a Time Magazine spread as part of an article on the growing craft subculture. The 'Jordy bag' has also graced the pages of both Venus and BUST magazines.

About pink olive items

www.pinkolive.ca

Every Pink Olive item is 100% handmade and meticulously inspected with great attention to detail by Jordy in her tiny (but adorably pink) home studio in Toronto, Ontario.  Many of the fabrics used are vintage and almost always purchased second hand. Materials range from wool tweeds to vintage polyester prints, all of which were individually chosen by Jordy due to their charming patterns, rich textures, and sublime colours. Items are often produced in limited edition runs and many are one-of-a-kind creations. Pink Olive designs are like snowflakes: no two are exactly alike!

Pink Olive strives to create as little waste as possible. Scraps (fabric, thread or anything else soft and clean left over from the Pink Olive studio) find a new home inside cute little pillows made of larger scraps of fabric.
